FAQ Applicant

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A SPECIFIC POSITION AVAILABLE THROUGH THE NASB Education Leadership SEARCH SERVICE?

You can CLICK HERE to access the online application system. If you have questions regarding the process, please contact NASB.

IF AN APPLICANT APPLIES FOR MORE THAN ONE POSITION WITH THE NASB Education Leadership SEARCH SERVICE, IS IT NECESSARY TO SUBMIT DUPLICATE COPIES OF DOCUMENTS?

We would recommend a Letter of Application specific to the district you are applying to in order to share with the board why you are interested in their specific district.

DOES THE NASB Education Leadership SEARCH SERVICE MAINTAIN A STABLE OF APPLICANTS?

The objective of the NASB Search Service is to assist the board of education in identifying and hiring the most qualified candidate, not to help certain applicants find a job. The NASB Search Service is committed to helping the board attract a high-quality group of applicants to review. From there, the board can select interview candidates who meet the needs of the district, and ultimately hire the individual who most closely aligns with the leadership profile defined by the board.

DO YOU CONDUCT BACKGROUND CHECKS?

The Association will conduct a comprehensive personal, professional, and internet reference check. In addition, a criminal background check, credit check, and Adult/Child Abuse check is completed on everyone the board selects to interview.

WHERE DO I FIND INFORMATION REGARDING WHAT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE MY NEBRASKA ADMINISTRATIVE CERTIFICATE?

Nebraska Department of Education NDE - Nebraska Administrative Certificate Application or Renewal www.education.ne.gov/tcert/index.html

CAN AN APPLICANT APPLY FOR TOO MANY POSITIONS?

The Association Search Service provides each board with extended opportunities to advertise and expose the district's vacancy to a vast audience. Through the advertising venues we utilize, it is our intent to attract many well-qualified applicants. The Association would encourage you to apply for any and all positions you feel are desirable and suit your qualifications. However, it is important to remember many well-qualified applicants may apply for one position; therefore, many applicants may be passed over as the board narrows the applicants to best match the district's needs. We also caution applicants not to apply for positions they would not accept if offered.

HOW ARE APPLICANTS SELECTED FOR INTERVIEWS?

The NASB Education Leadership Search Service screens each completed application and presents all screened applicants to the Board of Education for consideration. The board selects the interview candidates, conducts the interview process and determines who will be hired. While you may be qualified for the position, there may be an individual whose strengths align more closely to what the district is seeking.

SHOULD AN APPLICANT CONTACT BOARD OR STAFF MEMBERS OF A DISTRICT CONDUCTING A SEARCH THROUGH THE ASSOCIATION?

If the board has hired the NASB Education Leadership Search Service to conduct the search, the applicant should refrain from contacting board members. If the board is conducting their own search, it would be appropriate to communicate with the designated district contact.
